The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a Marian feast deeply felt by us the Missionary Sisters of the Incarnation, that’s why this day was chosen for an important event such as the day of the Perpetual commitment of Rev. Sr. Alphonsa Panikkaveettil.

On the evening of September 7th, Sr. Alphonsa Panikkaveettil after having spent the time established for the religious formation, has pronounced her YES definitive to the Lord, Jesus, the Incarnate Word, entrusting herself definitely to the Holy Church and to the Religious Congregation, into the hands of Sr. Shiny Chakkalakal, the Regional Superior and the delegate of the Superior General Mother Carmela Cataldo. We all are grateful to the Lord for this great gift to our religious family and to the whole Church.

The Holy Mass was celebrated in St. Joseph Convent Chapel of the regional house of the SMI, at Cochin (Kerala-India), and was presided by His Excellency Mons. Joseph Kariyil, Bishop of the diocese of Cochin.

For the ceremony were present the Missionary Fathers and Sisters of the Incarnation, the family of Sr. Alphonsa Panikkaveettil and few other sisters Unfortunately, due to the anti-Covid rules, the participation of the faithful and many other priests was contingent, however it was not prevented the celebration from being solemn and very moving.

During the homily the Bishop recalled the candidate the fundamentals of religious life, based on the Word of God and on the evangelical counsels. He also urged awareness and the need to live the Charism of the Incarnation as an essential element to follow the ideals of Mother Carla.

Our heartfelt prayers and wishes to Sr. Alphonsa is to carry on the spirit of our beloved Mother Carla keeping more attention and interest in simple things and to share God’s love as a priority in her daily life.
